Gigabyte Shows Intel Z68 Motherboard

Not to be outdone by Asus and MSI, Gigabyte has also showcased an Intel Z68 based motherboard prototype, dubbed GA-Z68X-UD4H-B3, at the CeBIT 2011 fair in Hannover, Germany.
The Z68 Extreme4 from Asrock has 3 PCI Express 16x ports of which two share the 16 CPU lanes while the last has a x4 chipset connection, USB 3.0 connectors via 2 Etrontech controllers (the other manufacturers are using NEC models), a VGA out, a DVI and an HDMI 1.4a.
The Asus P8Z68-V Pro is a Z68 variant of the P8P67 Pro. The main difference is that part of the connectivity has disappeared to make room for VGA, DVI and HDMI outs.
Gigabyte is introducing the GA-Z68X-UD4H-B3. In contrast to the Asrock and Asus models, it has just 2 PCI Express ports in x16 format, but has similar video connectivity: VGA, DVI and HDMI.
In the end, MSI is giving us the Z68A-GD80 P67A-GD80, which is the highest-end Z68 model currently available. Although the PCI Express connectivity is similar to what you get with Asrock and Asus, MSI has only included DVI and HDMI outs, which isn’t a problem as you can use a DVI to VGA adaptor if necessary. This choice also gains space and means MSI can keep both ethernet connectors.
