GeIL-owned PSU maker Thortech is showcasing at CeBIT its first unit to feature an 80Plus Platinum certification, the Platinum Plus 850W. This PSU has an efficiency of up 92%, and features a modular design, and a single 12V rail that delivers 100A.
Like its 80Plus Gold-rated siblings (the Plus series at least), the Platinum Plus comes bundled with a Power Meter, a 5.25-inch unit with an LCD screen that allows for fan speed control and informs the user on wattage, voltage, current, an RPM and temperature.
Other assets of the newcomer are the single 12V rail (delivers 100A) and the modular design, leading to a good airflow and avoidance of cable clutter.
The GeIL-owned outfit has yet to mention the release date or price of its newest creation, but did say it would be bundled with a Power Meter, essentially a fan controller with an LCD screen and meant to be placed inside a 5.25-inch drive bay. It will let one check the rotary speed, the voltage, current and the wattage. Thortech has yet to revealed the Platinum Plus 850W's pricing or release date.
