Samsung has added another all in one PC to its range with the launch of the Samsung Series 7 all in one PC, which features a 23 inch HD LED touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Processing comes in the for of either an Intel Core i3 or Intel Core i5 processor and there is up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, plus up to 1TB of storage and Intel HD graphics. The Samsung Series 7 all in one PC also features WiFi, one USB 3.0 port, four USB 2.0 ports, HD audio, a 1.3 megapixel web camera, plus a DVD player as standard. It will go on sale later this month.

Archos Rolls Out Firmware Update For Its G9 Tablets

Archos has announced that it will be rolling out a new update for its new G9 tablets this week. The update will be rolled out to both the Archos 80 G9 which launched very recently for $300 and the Archos 101 G9 tablet which is still yet to be released. The new update with bring with it pre-loaded Google Talk, higher quality pictures in high and low light conditions and hardware acceleration for Adobe Flash. As well as fixing a number of bugs and tweaking the stability of the system in general.

Together with support for upscaling standard definition video for a 1080p display and the ability to create shortcuts to shared network drives for streaming media over your home network. The update isn’t yet listed on the Archos support page, but you can find a download link at the ArcTablet blog.

Intel Slips New Atom Processors Quietly in Line

Intel has slid some new Atom processors quietly into its lineup. The company did so with no fanfare and there are four power sipping parts total. Two parts are for desktops and two are for notebooks. The chips included the Atom D2500, D2700, N2600, and N2800. The power miserly processors should be good for mobile devices.

The new notebook/netbook parts are the N2600 and N2800. The N2600 has a TDP of 3.5W or less and operates at 1.86 to 1.6GHz. The N2800 is a 6.5W part with a clock speed of 2.13 to 1.86GHz. The D2500 has a 1.86 to 2.13 GHz clock speed and a TDP of 10W or less. The D2700 has the same 10W or less TDP with a clock speed of 2.13GHz to 2.14 GHz. The N2600 promises to need only 1.8W to operate and 1.1W at idle. There is no price on the chips at this point and there is no word on when computers using the new chips will land.

The speaker is a two-channel stereo offering and has four JBL Odyssey neodymium transducers inside. The four speakers produce a 360-degree sound stage. Nissan Hard At Work On Mind-Reading Car

Whenever ‘mind-reading’ and certain vehicles are brought up, it always conjures nostalgic reminisces of the Craig Thomas-penned cult thriller Firefox. Forget the lame Clint Eastwood-starrer adaptation, Firefox was awesome. (Never heard of it? Try YouTube, it’s gotta be there.)

Anyway, news has just broken that the nerds over at Nissan are perfecting our mobile future. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, a car that drives itself according to the passenger’s thoughts. In short, a mind-reading car. Since this project is really ambitious, Nissan isn’t going it alone. The iconic carmaker has partnered with the Ecole Polytechnique in Switzerland and together, both strive for an effective car-based software that monitors minute cues from the person driving the car.

The technology itself isn’t that complex, it just needs tweaking. The key here is to develop a hyperfast statistical analysis AI that ‘reads’ physical cues from a person’s slight gestures and expressions. Come to think of it, that does sound difficult. Oh well, judging by what this kind of research implies and emerging trends in car manufacturing, tomorrow’s private transport is going to end up a gigantic mass transit system where driver autonomy is limited. All hail the future.

PS Vita 3G Downloads Limited To 20 MB

We weren’t expecting Sony to go all Amazon and provide free unlimited 3G service for their beefy new handheld, but the revelation that there will be a 20 MB limitation on 3G downloads of any kind did come as a bit of a disappointment. Mind you, this is exactly the same as the iOS App Store 3G limitation, but the difference is you won’t be using that 20 MB to get any full games downloaded to your device. Unless the games in question are Minis, but that would be predicated on people finding out they exist and braving Sony’s attempt at a digital store to actually buy them.

The Sony employee who confirmed this bit of information for Japanese website ASCII did admit that the limit could be raised or dropped altogether further down the line. We just hope they’re going to have an LTE Vita in the works by then.

Apparently, Google isn’t satisfied being the most diverse internet company in the face of the earth. Out of all the new ventures it could possibly embark upon (like finding a habitable planet in a galaxy somewhere), it decides to partner with a distinguished brewery and produce beer. Yes, beer. Really, really delicious beer that’s so unqiue it’s going to be a limited edition. According to the sources consulted for this article, some of it is available for tasting over at Denver for a drinking festival. Sounds nice.

The actual brewing is being done by Dogfish Head, a professional brewer who is singlehandedly producing Urkontinent in significant quantities. Oh yeah, that’s what it’s called: Urkontinent. it was dreamed up by Googlers who are into the brewed ale. This isn’t a serious venture, however, and Google will not profit from any Urkontinent sales. It’s more for the lulz and the good times.

Weird Flying Carpet Experiment Makes The Magic Real

The truth is it’s not exactly a carpet that’s floating around a lab at Princeton. More like a plastic sheet that has an electric current running through it. The creation of a grad student inspired by a paper he read by some MIT prof, the footage of the experiment has since gone viral. Innovation at its best, ladies and gentlemen. Below is a fantasy stock image of a flying carpet, because the real footage (after the jump!) looks awful.

It took graduate student Noah Jafferis two years and a lot of painstaking labor to finally get his sheet to, uh, hover. To what end? Vindicating some paper he read that was authored by an MIT prof. Of course, when the prof heard about Jafferis’ work, he was mighty proud. The ‘carpet’ is actually a thin plastic sheet and if it does prove useful in any applications, it could make an impact on VTOL technology. Quite exciting, since the tech on a Harrier’s VTOL isn’t really as hot these days.

iPhone 4S Photos Leaked

Apple are holding their annual iPhone event next Tuesday, the 4th of October, where we are expecting to see the new iPhone 5, and we have also heard rumors of a new iPhone 4S. Now the guys over at Gizmodo Brazil, have obtained some exclusive photos of the iPhone 4S, and the photos come from inside Foxconn’s factory in Brazil, and the iPhone 4S features a different model number than we have seen previously of N90A.

The iPhone 4S in the photos look like they have been rejected as they didn’t meet Apple’s manufacturing standards, but it does look like this is confirmation that Apple will launch two models next week, the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

Google To Open Its Own Retail Stores

In London. Actually, a so called Chromezone has already gone live over at Tottenham and it’s primarily a hub for people to buy laptops. If you’re wondering how come you missed the launch, that’s because the Tottenham Chromezone only opened its doors on Friday. Plans for another store are already underway. Read more after the break. But take heed, the Tottenham establishment is rather small at the moment, like an experimental dip into the consumer space, perhaps suggesting a limited run. The real big colorful Chromezone’s are still in the planning stages.

Other than beating Apple in its own game, the Google retail chain wants to take a serious bite off the laptop market. This might be the real driving force behind the Chromezone’s since Google’s own research indicated most laptop sales happen at retail. The other startling factoid about the advent of Google stores is it’s London-based strategy. A couple more large establishments are in the works and the Essex is the latest frontier in Google’s id for total world domination. It also wants to sell a lot of Chromebooks via these outlets.

Scary Stuff: Harnessing Twitter Data Allows Mass Emotional Mapping

A report from a Cornell University research team has revealed that across the world, a standardized emotional rhythm runs our daily lives. So what kind of methodology did they use? Tweets, lots and lots of tweets. Like somewhere in the neighborhood of two million people across several dozen countries. The end result was published in the journal Science.

Thanks to the social media revolution, scientists engrossed with the study of human behavior have veritable gold mines at the tip of their fingers. This was exactly the case at Cornell, where the findings were used to analyse a person’s behaviour throughout the week. The broad analysis necessary included harnessing words deemed positive and even the use of emoticons. So this means the more : ) there are, the happier the person. Several familiar patterns eventually surfaced, including the perk in mood at the onset of weekends and the general disgruntlement of rising in the morning for work, a state improved by breakfast. All this from studying tweets. If this comprehensive study smacks of dystopian scientific-corporate madness don’t be surprised. Humankind brought it on itself.

Samsung Offers Apple A Deal In Patent Suit

Apple and Samsung are in the process of a number of different legal battles, Apple is suing Samsung in Australia relating to Patents to do with he iPhone and iPad, yesterday we heard that Apple’s ex CEO Steve Jobs reached out to Samsung last year before Apple took legal action against Samsung.

Now it would appear that Samsung has offered Apple a deal of some sort with regards to the patent lawsuit in Australia, and Apple are apparently considering whether or not to accept the deal. Apple and Samsung are involved in 20 different lawsuits around the world in 9 different countries, and if the deal is agreed in Australia it could put an end to those other court cases as well. It will be interesting to see what the proposed deal involves, as Samsung has been accused of infringing on a number of Apple patents, and Apple is also accused of infringing on some of Samsung’s patents, tets hope the two companies can come to an agreement to resolve the issues, and put and end to all these various legal cases.

Sharp has shown off a new 60 inch TV which comes with a 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, and Sharp will be displaying this new 4K LCD TV at this years CEATEC 2011 Exhibition, which takes place next week in Tokyo, Japan.

This new 4k 60 inch LCD TV will go on sale in 2012, and it has been developed in partnership with the I3 (I-cubed) Research Center in Kawasaki, and we will get more details about its specifications next week. There are no details as yet on when in 2012 this new 4K 60 inch LCD TV from Sharp will go on sale, and also no details on pricing, although I suspect it is going to be fairly expensive.

Apple Crushes Psystar’s Hackintosh Court Appeal

You might remember a few years ago a company called Psystar got into hot water with Apple after building and selling Hackintosh (Mac Clones) systems complete with MAC OS X software. Apple filed a suit against the company back in 2008 and a Federal judge then banned Psystar from copying, selling, distributing, or offering to sells Mac OS X without Apple’s permission, although the injunction didn’t specifically name Psystar’s Rebel EFI software which lets you install Mac OS X on a PC.

However Psystar did take it lying down and filed an appealed against the suit but unfortunately for Psystar their appeal has now been crushed. I’m not quite sure what Psystar expected would happen when they started loading Apple software on to PC machines, but in December 2009, Psystar agreed to pay Apple a $2.7 million in a partial settlement and an injunction soon followed, closing Psystar’s business.

Microsoft Unveils New Office Web App Features

Microsoft announced a number of new features which it has now included within it Office Web Apps service. The new features have been created and added using customer feedback, explains Microsoft in its blog post. The new features include Pen input for OneNote, Excel Merge-Autofit support, direct printing from Excel, and right-click menus in Excel, to name just a few.

As from today the OneNote Web App now displays ink , together with enhanced cell formatting in Microsoft’s Excel Web App. Together with the ability to merge cells, and to automatically fit cell sizes based on the content the cells. As well as support for printing directly from within the Excel web app even when accessing documents from your Skydrive.

Microsoft explains:
“We’ve heard from our OneNote customers who like to use pen-input devices on Tablet PCs to draw and write notes, and we’ve heard from others who enjoy using the Draw tools in OneNote to add ink and highlighting with the mouse or trackpad when working on PC”

Samsung has just announced their latest Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which will come with the latest version of Google’s mobile and tablet OS, Android Honeycomb 3.2. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus features a dual core 1.2 GHz processor and comes with a 7 inch multi-touch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Other specifications on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus include a front facing 2 megapixel camera and a rear facing 3 megapixel camera which can record HD video in 720p, it also features an LED flash and auto-focus. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus comes with 1GB of RAM and will be available with 16GB or 32GB of storage, plus it features a microSD card slot, it will go on sale in the US and Europe in October, there are no details on pricing as yet.

Dell has today announced a new addition to their range of thin display notebooks with the launch of their new Dell XPS 14z, following on from their Dell XPS 15z which was launched at the end of May. The new Dell XPS 14z is a smaller 14 inch 1366×768 HD LED display model which has already been showcased at the IFA 2011 in Berlin earlier this year. The Dell XPS 14z is equipped with the same super-slim display bezel that was created by LG and dubbed Shuriken display.

The Dell XPS 14z is powered by a Intel Core i5-2430M or Core i7-2640M CPU supported by 4GB ram and sports 1GB NVIDIA Optimus graphics and weighs just 4.4 lbs. Its also equipped with a USB 3.0 port, an optical drive.

The Dell XPS 14z will be arriving in China first for around 7,699 yuan (US$1,205).Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated.

Fake iPhone Ring Busted In China, Found Using Apple Components

We have already seen a bunch of fake iPhone’s which have been produced in China, and now a counterfeiting ring has been arrested by Shanghai China, and the group was found to be using actual Apple components to produce their fake iPhone’s. Around 200 fake iPhone’s were received in the raid, and when they were looked at more closely, they were found to contain actual Apple components, and were hard to tell apart from the real iPhone.

The cost to make one fake iPhone, which used some genuine parts, was around 2,000 yuan ($313). It was sold on unauthorised markets and on the Internet for around 4,000 yuan, only a few hundred yuan cheaper than the real iPhone, the newspaper said. The fake iPhones had the same functions as the genuine ones but had a shorter battery life, it quoted the police as saying. It does make you wonder how the counterfeiters got their hands on the genuine Apple components, they must have come from one of Apple’s suppliers.

Xbox Dashboard Tipped To Launch November 15th After PayPal Email Slip

An internal PayPal email may have inadvertently unveiled the launch date for Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 Dashboard. Back in May Microsoft revealed that PayPal would be added as an additional payment method, which then became available to Xbox 360 games on May 19th.

However this week an internal email sent by PayPal to its employees asking them to test the service, has revealed that Nov. 15th, the 10-year anniversary of the original Xbox launch, as the date the new Xbox 360 Dashboard will arrive. Obviously this hasn’t been confirmed by Microsoft but the date marking the 10th anniversary of the Xbox console would definitely be a good day to launch a new user interface. As always we will keep you posted if more information comes to light.

The new interactive Lego building set is based around the Life of George iOS app, which prompts you to build different shapes using 144 Lego bricks. George is a software engineer LEGO model that travels to various locations in his photo album, which prompts different themes for the other models.

Microsoft and Epic have announced that the newly released Gears of War 3 has sold over 3 million copies in the first week since it went on sale, and according to Microsoft it is one of the biggest selling games of 2011. The news comes from Microsoft’s Major Nelson, who has also noted that Gears of War 3 ‘has already grossed more than any 2011 video game to date’.

It was also announced that the Gears of War franchise has now reached over $1 billion in lifetime sales, which is pretty impressive, and we suspect that many more copies of Gears of War 3 will be sold before the end of the year.

Spotify Launches “Private Listening” Mode To Quell Facebook Sharing Complaints

After a wave of complaints to Spotify from Facebook users over the ability for your Facebook friends to see what you are listening whilst playing music in Spotify. Spotify CEO and Founder Daniel Ek has just announced via a tweet that Spotify is currently rolling out a new ”Private Listening” Mode that will allow Facebook users to keep their listen habits private from their friends.

Ek explains in his tweet: “We call it “private listening” and you can find it in the Spotify/File menu and toggle it on/off.” The new “Private Listening” mode that enables you to listen to music without broadcasting your current song to Facebook’s new Open Graph platform.

Apple’s Steve Jobs Attempted To Discuss Patent Issues With Samsung

Apple and Samsung are currently engaged in more than 20 different court cases in nine countries around the world, the cases relate to patents which each company is accusing the other one of infringing related to smartphones and tablets. Samsung has been Apple’s biggest supplier for some time now, and has supplied Apple many of the parts for its iPhone’s iPad’s and iPod Touch, and now according to Bloomberg, Apple’s former CEO, Steve Jobs attempted to enter into negotiations with Samsung, before the matters were brought to court.

According to the report, Steve Jobs approached Samsung in 2010, to start discussions between the two companies relating to the alleged patent infringements, the discussions were then handed over to other executives with in Apple. Samsung is an important supplier with whom we have a deep relationship,” Lutton testified in response to questioning by Samsung lawyer David Catterns. “We wanted to give them a chance to do the right thing. Steve Jobs wasn’t actually involved in the final negotiations between the two companies, which obviously broke down, and has led to the numerous court cases which are happening at the moment.

Dell has announced its latest Android device, in the form of an Android smartphone, the Dell Streak Pro 101DL, which is headed to Japan and it comes with a 4.3 inch qHD super AMOLED display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The Dell Streak Pro 101DL will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor, and also features an 8 megapixel camera for video and photos.

Adobe Lightroom 3.5 Update Brings RAW Support For High End Compact Cameras

Adobe has today released a new update for its Lightroom 3.5 photographic software and Photoshop bringing with it support for high end compact cameras from Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, and Pentax. Enabling users to be able to import RAW files from the compact cameras together with new lens profiles. As well as RAW file support the updates also bring with them a number of new bug fixes and tweaks to improve performance and stability with in the applications.

It’s no use thinking otherwise. No use wishing for a different outcome. if you live in a metropolis, it’s already a fact of life that CCTV cameras and the ubiquity of mobile computing means that people are observed everyday. Observed, tracked, and kept tab on–be it from Facebook, Google, the government, the police, or private enterprises. A number of farsighted individuals call this the advent of the sentient city. HTC Explorer Headed To Vodafone UK

Earlier today HTC announced their latest Android smartphone the HTC Explorer which is designed to be a budget Android device, we have already heard it is headed to UK mobile operator Three, and now the guys over at Vodafone UK just dropped us an email to let us know that the HTC Explorer will be available on their network in the UK. The HTC Explorer will come with Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 and will also feature the latest version of HTC’s custom user interface, HTC Sense 3.5.

Other specifications on the HTC Explorer include a 3.2 inch HVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, there are no details on pricing or availability with Vodafone as yet, but it looks like the device will be available on Vodafone’s Pay as You go pre-paid tariff.

Google+ Now Allows Full Size Photo Downloads

In response to Google+ user feedback Google has now added a new feature that enables Google+ users to be able to download full size photos. The new feature has been rolled out today and is found by when viewing a photo in the lightbox mode, under Actions down in the bottom righthand corner.

If you would prefer not to allow users to be able to download full size images of your photos, simply goto your Google+ settings and uncheck the “Allow viewers to download my photos” checkbox.

Google explains:
“We’ve been listening to your feedback and, as of today, you can download full size photos! When viewing a photo in the lightbox photo viewer, click Actions. If the photo owner has allowed downloads, you will now see an option to Download Photo.”

Its great to see that Google is listening to user feedback and working so quickly to implement it in the live Google+ site.

iPhone 5 To Feature HSPA+ According to China Unicom

Apple is expected to unveil its fifth generation iPhone, the iPhone 5 at its special event next week on Tuesday the 4th of October, and we have already heard a number of different rumors on what will be included in the new iPhone 5. Now it would appear that they iPhone 5 may come with a faster HSPA+ connection, according to the guys from Macotakara, who have got their hands on a slide that was shown at this week’s Macworld Asia, from the Chinese carrier China Unicom, which you can see below.

As you can see from the slide from China Unicom, its lists the iPhone 5 with a HSPA+ connection with speeds up to 21Mbps, so we could possibly see the new iPhone 5 announced with HSPA+.

Syndicate Reboot Game Trailer Unveiled

A new funky trailer has been unveiled by EA Games for the upcoming reboot of the Syndicate franchise which is expected to arrive on 21st February 2012. The new game will feature 4 player co-op modes featuring missions from the original classic game. Set in the year 2069, Syndicate puts players in a world no longer governed by politicians, but divided up into regions controlled by megacorporations known as Syndicates. Mozilla explains:
“There is an issue with Firefox 7 that may have caused some or all of your add-ons to be hidden. We are preparing an update to Firefox that will fix this and restore any hidden add-ons. Until that update is available, you can restore your add-ons with the simple workaround”

If one or more of your add-ons is hidden after upgrading to Firefox or Thunderbird 7, installing this new extension will recover them. After installing this add-on and restarting Firefox, your tabs will be restored and this tool will remove itself. You can download the new recovery utility from the Mozilla Add-On website here.

TAG Heuer has created the worlds fastest chronograph watch which is capable of measuring out 1/1000ths of a second at 500 Hz. The new TAG Heuer Mikrotimer is equipped with a small balance wheel inside which goes back and forth 3.6 million times an hour. To put that in perspective when you compare this to a Rolex watch who’s balance wheel goes back and forth around 28,800 beats per hour, you can easily see the difference in technology used to create the two watches. This video shows TAG Heuer’s Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept watch in action. This mechanical watch times things to 1/1000th of a second – 300 times faster than a human blink. The Wrist Watch Review website sums up the design by saying: “In short, this watch is a completely mechanical device that runs faster than a sports car engine and comes in a package about as big as a silver dollar.”

Spotify Closes Open Service, Replaces It With 6 Month Unlimited Trial

Following on from their announcement earlier in the week to only accept new customers who have a Facebook accounts or sign up for one. Spotify has today announced that it will be closing their Open account service and replacing it with a six month unlimited trial. After your 6 months are up, your trial will be limited to 10 hours of streaming per month and a 5-play limit will be applied to individual tracks.

If you already have a Open account with Spotify, the company have explained what will happen in a statement after the jump. If you are already a paying subscriber to Spotify there are no changes to your account.

Spotify explains:
“If you’ve had your Spotify Open account for less than six months, you’ll discover that your time cap has gone. And it’ll stay gone until your account reaches its six-month birthday…if you’ve had your Spotify Open account for more than six months, you’ll still be limited by time. As you’ve been with us for a while, the chances are you also enjoyed a six-month period without time limits when you first joined.”

Nielsen Survey Finds Smartphone Market is moving towards Android

There are two main operating systems on the smartphone market today with Android and iOS. The move towards Android has been happening for a while now even though the iPhone is still the most popular single smartphone on the market. Nielsen has released the latest figures from a survey it conducted in August on the mobile market.

According to the survey 43% of all smartphone owners are using an Android device. The survey also found that buyers who purchased a new smartphone in the last three months opted for Android 56% of the time. That metric shows the market is moving towards Android according to Nielsen.

The survey found that 28% of all smartphone users are using the iPhone and the same 28% bought a new iPhone in the last three months. The smartphone market overall continues to grow as well with 43% of all subscribers in the US having a smartphone.

When it comes to desktop computers today many people are choosing the AIO style machines packing everything into the monitor. The design allows for space savings since it needs no tower beside the desk. The Toshiba DX735 AIO is the latest machine to be announced from Toshiba.

The machine has a 23-inch screen that supports HD content and it has an integrated DVD drive as well. The display has a HDMI input allowing for the connection of game consoles and other gear directly to the screen. The machine ships with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard that is paired right out of the box and ready to work.

Toshiba packed in Onkyo speakers for sound quality, a USB 3.0 port, and four USB 2.0 ports. The PC has either Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, 4GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and can be had with a TV tuner inside as well. The base version will cost $956.99 and will land on October 2.

Rimac have this week unveiled their new electric supercar in the form of Concept_One which is equipped with 1088 hp, 3,800 Nm of torque, and can cover 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h) and a 370 mile range (600 km).

The Rimac Concept_One has been designed by 23 year old Croatian automotive designer Mate Rimac and the first cars are expected to arrive in showrooms during 2013. But there will be only 88 of the Rimac Concept_One cars made so if your pockets are deep enough don’t delay. Meizu MX Quad Core Android Smartphone Announced

Meizu has announced their latest Android smartphone, which is headed to China, the Meizu MX which will come with a quad core Cortex A9 processor and will also feature a 4.3 inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

The Meizu MX will be China only, and it will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions, and comes with front and rear facing cameras, although we couldn’t find out any specifications on the cameras. The Meizu MX will retail for $625 for the 16GB version and $780 for the 32GB version, and the 16GB version will come with a dual core processor whilst the 32GB version will feature the quad core processor.

Design firm Artefact have created a radically simple printer concept called the SWYP drastically moving away from the traditional printer most of us have in our offices and homes. The new concept called “SWYP: See What You Print” uses a touchscreen display to allow you to manipulate, resize and even tweak your photos using a variety of filters. Once you are happy with your photograph you can then simply print it and see it transform from a digital image into a hard paper copy. The SWYP printer automatically connects to your camera or photographic device to enabling easy image importing. Watch the video after the jump to see the SWYP printer in action.

Unfortunately the SWYP printer is just a concept at the moment and there are no plans as yet to put the SWYP printer into production. But hopefully the design will prompt a few printer manufacturers to reconsider the outdated designs they are using at the moment to flood the market.

Is This Another iPhone 5 Case?

Last week we saw some cases from Case Mate which were reported to be for the new iPhone 5, and now another supposed iPhone case has appeared online, this one was posted here. According to the post accompanying the pictures the dimension of the iPhone 5 will measure 11cm tall by 5.5cm wide, by .8cm thin which then tapers down to .6cm.

It isn’t clear as yet whether this case is based on the actual iPhone design or whether it is based on information that was posted online previously about the dimensions of the new iPhone 5.

We have been hearing about the HTC Rhyme over the last few weeks, and now HTC has officially announced the new HTC Rhyme and it will be available from Verizon Wireless in the US from the 29th of September. The HTC Rhyme features a 3.7 inch multi-touch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, it will come with Android Gingerbread and HTC’s Sense 3.5 user interface.

Other specifications on the HTC Rhyme include HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and an LED flash, and will also come with a range of exclusive accessories. As well as being available on Verizon Wireless in the US from the 29th of September, the HTC Rhyme will also go on sale in Europe in October.

Samsung Epic 4G Touch Gets Taken Apart

Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Samsung Epic 4G Touch went on sale last week, and the guys over at iFixit decided to take it apart to see what was inside the Epic 4G Touch. It features a larger 4.52 inch display than the original Galaxy S II and also comes with the same dual core 1.2GHz processor, have a look at the tear down photos above.

We were delighted to find that taking apart this allegedly Epic phone was not too challenging. In fact, the Epic 4G Touch appears to fare better than its overseas cousin in terms of disassembly and repair. Expect to use a Phillips #00 screwdriver and a plastic opening tool if you want to see what’s inside. Expect significant trouble if you try to replace a cracked display.

Realtime Face Cloning Gives A Whole New Meaning To Identity Theft

Artist Arturo Castro has used realtime face cloning applications to create a freaky video entitled “Faces.” Castro has used a realtime face substitution footage made using Kyle McDonald’s ofxFacetracker + Jason Saragih’s facetracker library to create some very strange images of him wearing other peoples faces.

Castro got the inspiration for his video from the thought of grabbing someone else face from a camera, which puts a whole new perspective on identity theft, watch the amazing video after the jump. Castor has also tried using cartoon faces but says that these don’t quite work as well as the images of people he has used in the video.

Intel’s new Ivy Bridge chipset will support much higher resolutions than their existing chipset, and Intel has announced that Ivy Bridge will support resolutions up to 4096 x 2304 pixels.

The highest resolution consumer displays on the market at the moment support resolutions up to 2560 x 1600, so we expect to see some much higher resolution displays which will make use of the new Intel Ivy Bridge chipset. Intel has also announced its new Multi Formet Codec Engine: MFX which will be capable of supporting resolutions up to 4096 x 4096 pixels on a single monitor, and it will also be capable of processing 4K Quad HD video.

AOC has today announced the launch of their new 16 inch USB LCD monitor equipped with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and a 5ms response time, 50M:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 250cd brightness, which might be worth checking out. The design of the monitor incorporates and integrated stand that can be folded flat against the back of the display for transport and then folded out when in use.

The new AOC 16 inch USB LCD monitor (e1649fwu) is arriving in October for $139 and with its refresh rate only being 5ms you shouldn’t experience ghosting on the screen when playing movies or gaming. Unfortunately though the monitor doesn’t support HDCP so yo wont be able to use it to view Blu-ray movies.

Unreal Engine 3 UDK Heads to Mac OSX this month

If you are a gamer that likes to use a Mac for their gaming fix Epic has some epic news for you. The company has announced that finally, after four years of waiting, the Unreal Engine and games using it are coming to the Mac platform. It has been four years since Epic promised that Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 would come to Mac gamers. The Unreal Engine 3 UDK that will power these games is now ready to come to developers on the Mac. Not only will that allow Epic to port its own games to Mac, but other games using the engine will be available as well.

The UDK for developers will be available this month and considering there is only about a week and a half left, it should land soon. This is good news indeed for gamers since more availability is on the way.

Desk Pets TankBot can be Controlled by iPhone and Android

A new RC toy has turned up called the TankBot and it is from Desk Pets. Desk Pets is famous for making little RC toys and other things that you can play with. The TankBot has three play modes. It can navigate mazes, free roam, and you can fully control the device using an app and the iPhone or an Android device. The TankBot is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery. Charging is done with a USB port on your computer. The little toy makes sounds and each color has its own frequency of operation allowing for play with several at once.

Final Cut Pro X Receives First Major Update

Apple has today released its first major update to its Final Cut Pro X video editing software which when released cause a storm or criticism from professional video editors and production teams. The new update version 10.0.1 brings with it a number of requested features, including support for full XML import/export of both project and event information, intelligent stem export for both video and audio files using a new feature called Roles. Together with Xsan integration, enabling editors in different locations to work with the same files, events, and projects.

Apple has also now launched a free trial of the Final Cut Pro X software together with a free guide called “Final Cut Pro X for Final Cut Pro 7 editors”. The free trail gives you a full version of the software to play with for 30 days and Apple has also started offering a free trail for its Aperture photo management software. Now this update has been released Apple is now readying its next Final Cut Pro X update that will include multicam editing and support for broadcast video output and is expected to arrive sometime in 2012.

Vodafone To Roll Out Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Tomorrow

It looks like the first mobile carrier may be rolling out Windows Phone 7.5 mango tomorrow, according to a recent report the Vodafone group is scheduled to release the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update to its range of devices from tomorrow the 21st of September.

The news comes from German site Windows smartphones, who have said that the update will roll out to certain devices tomorrow and is expected to be available to all Windows smartphones on the network by the end of the month. This has yet to be confirmed by Vodafone or Microsoft, I guess we will find out some more details tomorrow.

This Facehugger Inspired Facemask Engulfs Your Face

There’s this artist in Ukraine who recently outed a strange S&M mask/headgear that borrows from the facehugger aesthete. More than one blogger has opined that it’s a fitting sort of tribute to H.R. Giger, who conceptualized the original xenomorphs. Ah, H.R. Giger. The man’s a national treasure. A smidgen of artistic license played out in this mask’s creation. Note the facehugger is on the back of the head and not, well, on the face. It still looks good though.

Since he’s at it, creator Bob Basset should do a whole line of clothing based on the Aliens saga. Who knows, it might make it to a runway. Somewhere. Wait, after checking his sight, he churns out all these steam punk gas masks and gothic apparel. A master tailor he is. When they ever do a Fallout live action adaptation, he should do costumes. This lovely piece of headgear also brings another villainous creature to mind. Not so much creature, but super evil superhuman, namely Bane from the Batman canon. The Chris Nolan take on the legendary archenemesis is more minimalist and quite a departure from the comic book.

This facehugger mask, on the other hand, looks Bane-appropriate. Just add those crimson patches over the eyes and a skullface. There’s even a tube (actually the facehugger’s tail) to deliver the superhuman fluid.

Sony PSP And GameCube Combined To Create Fusion Micro Mod

Modder Ashen has combined a Sony PSP and Nintendo GameCude to create a portable GameCube system which he’s named the Micro Fusion. The mod is not for the faint heart and has required some careful modding and tweaking to combine the two gaming systems and gel them together. On the rear of the device Ashen has added a fan and heat sink to help keep all the tightly packed components cool enough to run. Watch the video after the jump to see the Fusion Micro in action and how it has been constructed.

Other tweaks include an additional analog stick on the right to mimic the GameCube controller and two card slots for games and emulation purposes. Its also got a 5000mah battery installed which will provide you with a round 2-3 hours or extensive gaming before a recharge is required.

NVIDIA’s Quad Core Kal-El Processor To Feature Fifth Companion Core

We have already seen a video preview of NVIDIA’s new quad core mobile processor, codenamed Kal-El, which will be the next generation NVIDIA Tegra processor, which is scheduled to launch before the end of the year.

Now NVIDIA has released more details on their new Kal-El processors, and also something called vSMP (Variable Symmetric Multiprocessing technology, which is basically a fifth CPU Core that is designed to execute tasks at low frequency.
